📅 When to go

High season (peak prices and occupancy): June–August on coasts and mountains; December–January in Florida and Hawaii. Shoulder season: April–May and September–October. Best value: February–March across most of the country, except winter ski destinations. Buying timeshare weeks tends to be cheaper outside high season.

What you need to know

Do I need a visa?Most European travelers enter with ESTA (electronic authorization, ~$21, online). Valid 2 years, up to 90 days per visit.
What currency is used?US dollar (USD). Cards accepted everywhere. Tipping 18-20% in restaurants is expected.
What law governs timeshares in the US?Each state has its own timeshare law. Florida, Nevada and California are the strictest. Typical rescission period: 5–10 days after signing.
